As the school year comes to an end, I would like to thank Mariemont School District for giving me the opportunity to create and inspire the youth of the school. Last Summer I was commissioned by Mariemont Elementary to create a mural for their courtyard. This school year, Art Teacher, Shelley Kormrska, brought her students to draw in the space and create from what they see. Here are some of the amazing masterpieces that were created. Thank you Mariemont Elementary PTO and Mariemont Arts Association, Principal Ericka Simmons, and Art Educator, Shelley Komrska, for allowing my art to inspire your amazing students. It is truly an honor!
64 Paintings now installed in Children’s Hospital Critical Care Building
One of the highlights of this year was the recent installation of 64 paintings that I worked on with elementary and high school students for Cincinnati Children’s New Critical Care Building. Thank you Principal Alison of South Avondale, Stephanie Cooper of North Avondale, James Nevil of Rockdale Academy, Robert Keller of Ludlow High School, and Alison Burns of Woodward Career Technical High School for welcoming me into your art classes to engage with your talented students . I am grateful for your students’ passion and dedication to this project. Every painting offers hospital patients, visitors, and staff a bright and vivid visual that comforts, nurtures and heals the spirit. Thank you, Kolar Design, for inviting me to be a part of this amazing project. Thank you, Alison Banz, for framing and installing all the art, and thank you to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital for allowing me to have my art in your state of the art Building.
I am very proud to announce my solo exhibition at Caza Sikes, called “The Vivid Voice” featuring over 20 new paintings, plus selected works from collectors around the city. Opening FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 11TH from 5pm to 9pm and SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 12th from 11am to 4pm. See the press release below.
For the past three years, the mentees and mentors of the Higher Education Mentoring Initiative (HEMI), have assisted me in the creation and execution of works of art that express our mission and vision. Soar with Knowledge, our most recent work, celebrates the dreams and aspirations of the HEMI mentees and how education shapes our future. The open book with the owl are symbols of wisdom and strength. The abstracted puzzle pieces represent the decisions we make on the road of life. The Higher Education Mentoring Initiative helps prepare foster youth for educational opportunities beyond high school. The HEMI Program recruits, trains, and supports mentors to establish positive long-term relationships with foster youth.
Soar with Knowledge, will be auctioned off at the HEMI’s annual fundraiser, Run for the Roses! The Seventh Annual Run for the Roses: Kentucky Derby Fundraising Event is scheduled for 4:30 to 7:00 p.m., Saturday, May 6, 2017, but you can bid now.
