Come out to the Clifton Cultural Arts Center on Friday June 1st for ReRoot. This exhibition features 20 local and national artist who will be exploring the theme of place through Identity and community. Opening Reception Friday June 1st from 6 – 8:30pm. The show continues through August 2nd 2012.

It’s an honor to participate in SOS 2012 a community art show of creative expressions for peace and justice curated by Saad Ghosn. Included in this exhibition, which features well over 100 artists, is the artwork from the student’s, I teach a Mt Washington’s Castle Connections after school program and Kennedy Heights Arts Center. From personal/domestic issues concerning drugs to global concerns on war and the environment, the students at Mt Washington and the Kennedy Heights Arts Center created vivid works that express what’s going on in their world and beyond. A special thanks to all my students for doing such great work. The exhibition will open June 1st from 6pm – 12 am at the Art Academy of Cincinnati 1212 Jackson St, downtown OTR Cincinnati. The exhibition will run through June 10th.

Kiss the King with Iron Maiden and Anthrax at Visionaries and Voices
When my good friend Maya Drozdz, one half of the dynamic design duo VisuaLingual, invited me to participate in Autocomplete: a Collaborative Coloring Book Exhibit, I was thrilled. In Autocomplete, Visionaries + Voices artists created approximately 80 black and white images which were then “colored in” by outside artists and designers using media of their choice. At first I was not sure what to make of the artwork that Maya selected for me to color/complete. Continue reading
