Rhythm of the City, by Cedric Michael Cox Interactive mural 48 by 96 inches, acrylic on Magnet strips mounted to canvas
I would like to thank the Dayton Art institute for selecting me as their Yeck Artist in Residence. I will have the honor of exhibiting an interactive Mural in the Lange Family Experien Center for the exhibition EYE Teaser opening May 9th 2015. The excitement that I feel while working on my art is what I want my viewers to feel when their looking at it. With the Rhythm of the City Interactive Mural, families and individuals will have the opportunity to create their own work of art, inspired by my cityscape series. With this 4′ x 8′ Interactive magnetic mural, Dayton Art Institute visitors will recreate their own interpretation of my work by arranging and rearranging pre-painted magnetic strips depicting architectonic shapes. There will be an assortment of magnets that will fit into each section of the mural. Visualize a magnetic jigsaw puzzle that viewers can interact with by manipulating geometric forms and recreating another work of art with each adjustment. I would like to thank Accelerated Achievement Academy student Teresa Parker and DAAP student Nick Mason for assisting me in the studio, but most of all I would like to thank the Dayton Art Institute for making it possible for me to share my vision with you. The exhibition will open May 9th at 1pm and continue through November 29th 2015. See more images of how this project developed.
